Madrid, April 23, 2018 (SPS) - The parliament of Navarre (Spain) passed an institutional statement in which it reiterated its solidarity with the Sahrawi political prisoners in the Moroccan prisons and called for their immediate release, said Monday this institution, while denouncing all the legal proceedings as well as all the political trials conducted by the Moroccan authorities against the Sahrawi population.
In its statement, the Parliament of Navarre called on the United Nations Mission for the Referendum in Western Sahara (MINURSO) and also UN Secretary General’s personal Envoy for Western Sahara Horst Kohler to ensure the strict respect of the international law in terms of dealing with the prisoners as well as the respect of the humanitarian international law.
The parliament of Navarre denounced “the ongoing human rights violation in the occupied territories of Western Sahara and the situation of Sahrawi political prisoners in all the prisons of Morocco and occupied Western Sahara.”
The Spanish movement of solidarity with the Sahrawi people, committed to accompanying the Sahrawi population in its struggle for independence, organizes various activities to shed light on this conflict and denounce the systematic human rights violations by the Moroccan occupier.
In this regard, Spanish filmmaker Laura Sipan will present Tuesday at the movie theatre of Zaragoza her documentary entitled "Soukeina" shot in Western Sahara. (SPS)
